Lahat ng SEAG Chef de Mission dumalo sa flag raising

Itinaas ang mga Pamban-sang watawat ng 11 bansang kalahok kahapon matapos makumpleto ang lahat ng participants sa 23rd Philippine Southeast Asian Games.

Pinangunahan ni First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, Chef de Mission ng Team Philip-pines ang mga sports at local officials sa traditional program na ginanap sa Rizal Monument sa Luneta na isa sa mga high-lights ng biennial meet.

"We welcome all of you. It’s a great honor for the Philip-pines to host the SEA Games and all its participants," ani Arroyo sa kanyang speech.

Ang pagtataas ng bandila ng bawat SEA countries ay isang traditional ceremony bilang pagpapakita ng partici-pation ng bawat bansa sa 11-nation meet at simbolo rin ito ng pormal na pagtanggap ng host country sa mga partisi-pante.

"This means that everything is ready and in place," sabi ni Philippine SEA Games Organi-zing Committee (PHILSOC) protocol chief Gen. (ret.) Mario Tanchangco.

Dumalo ang lahat ng Chef de Missions, ang kanilang mga assistants, ambassadors dignitaries at ilang athletes sa seremonya.

Ang RP traditional boat race team sana ang dadalo sa seremonya ay nagkamali ng pinuntahang venue nang sila ay dinala sa Quirino Grand-stand.

Gayunpaman, dumating ang mga mataas na sports officials na kinabibilangan nina PHILSOC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez at International Olympic Com-mittee (IOC) representative to the Philippines Frank Elizalde.

Nabigay si Arroyo ng coffee table book ukol sa kasaysayan ng Malacañang at Filipino arts and culture na nakalagay sa ‘tampipi’ -- isang bag na gawa sa dahon ng buko bilang token gifts sa mga Chef de Missions ng Brunei, Cambodia, Timor Leste, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singa-pore at Vietnam.
