Queen City handa na para sa SEAG

CEBU -- Handang-handa nang mag-host ang ‘Queen City of the South’ ng 23rd Southeast Asian Games ayon kay Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHILSOC) sports ope-ration chairman Richie Garcia.

Dalawang linggo na lamang ang hinihintay bago ganapin ang bien-nial meet sa Nov. 27-Dec. 5 kung saan punong abala ang Cebu ng anim sa 40 sport events-- ang karatedo, judo, pencak silat, dance sport, moun-tain bike at sepak takraw.

"As far as preparations are concerned, Cebu is very much ready," ani Garcia. "All the equipment needed are now in Manila and shipments of it like the different gadgets, time clock and everything concerning the six events to be held here will be arriving anytime now."

Nangako naman si Governor Gwendolyn Fiel Garcia, ang unang lady governor ng Cebu na ibibigay niya ang buong suporta sa RP athletes.

Samantala, sinuporta-han naman ng daan-daang tao ang torch relay 23rd SEA Games na nag-simula noong Sabado.

Matapos ang maig-sing ceremony, tinanggap nina Mandaue City coun-cilor Carlo Fortuna at City sports chairwoman Che-ryl Ouano ang official torch mula kay Danao City councilor Boying Rodri-guez.

Hanggang ngayon na lamang ang SEAG ‘flame’ sa Cebu at bukas ay dadalhin ito sa Bacolod via Dumaguete bago ito tumulak sa Iloilo, Mindoro, Batangas, Calamba, Los Baños, Angeles City, Subic at Manila para sa opening ceremonies sa Nov. 27.
