Aplikasyon sa FIBA pormal na isusumite ng PBF

Pormal na isusumite ngayon ng bagong tatag na Philippine Basketball Federation (PBF) ang kanilang application paper sa international basketball federation na FIBA sa Hong Kong para maging opisyal na miyembro.

Ang rekognisyon ng FIBA sa PBF ni Moying Martelino ang siyang hinihintay ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) upang tuluyan nang kilalanin bilang bagong basketball association.

Maliban sa pagsusumite ng kanilang aplikasyon, hihingin rin ni Martelino ang basbas ni FIBA-Asia chief Carl Ching Menky.

"Isa-submit na namin ang mga document and also to extend to him personally our appeal," wika ni POC spokesman Joey Romasanta, makakasama ni Martelino si PBF senior vice-president Nic Jorge ng Small Basketeers.

Inaasahang gagamitin ng 70-anyos na si Martelino ang kanyang impluwensya sa FIBA-Asia bilang dating secretary-general ng Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC).

"We’re just waiting for Moying’s passport. He filed it last Tuesday and he is to get it today. Hopefully, maganda ang maganap sa atin sa tulong ng FIBA," dagdag ni Romasanta. "It’s just a courtesy call. Isa-submit lang namin ‘yung formal application namin, and maybe to seek some advice on what to do next."

Bukod sa POC, ibinitin rin ng PSC ang kanilang opisyal na rekognisyon sa PBF bilang National Sports Association (NSA).

Patuloy pa ring kinikilala ng FIBA ang sinibak nang Basket-ball Association of the Philippines (BAP) ni Joey Lina bilang miyembro. (Ulat ni RCadayona)
