Gallego, kampeon sa 2005 Japan 9-Ball Open

Gumawa ng mahusay na taktika sa huling frame si Ramil ‘Bebeng’ Gallego upang pabagsakin si Antonio ‘Nickoy’ Lining sa All-Filipino finals, 9-8 at tanghaling kampeon sa 2005 Japan 9-Ball Open noong Lunes ng gabi na ginanap sa Tokyo, Japan.

Bago nakarating sa semifinals, nauna munang namayani si Gallego sa kalabang si Sashi Yamamoto ng Japan, 9-7, habang pinataob naman ni Lining ang Japan bet na si Hisashi Kusaco, 9-5 sa isa pang laban sa Final Four upang isaayos ang kanilang final duel.

Bunga ng kanyang tagumpay, si Gallego ay nag-uwi ng P350,000, habang ibinulsa naman ni Lining ang P175,000 bilang runner-up prize.

Dahil sa magandang performance na ipinakita ng dalawang cue artists, optimistiko si Billiard and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) incumbent president Ernesto Fajardo na malaking bilang ng gintong medalya ang maisusubi ng RP pool team na isasabak sa nalalapit na 2005 Manila Souhteast Asian Games.

Samantala, nanguna naman sa top 8 finisher sina Dennis "Surigao" Orcullo, Ruel Esquillo at Rody Morta, habang nagtapos naman sa top 16 ay si Elvis Perez na nilahukan ng 400 cue artists.
