2007 ABC Men's Championship iho-host ng Pilipinas?

Isang napakalaking homecourt advantage ang tataglayin ng bansa na maaaring magbalik ng Philippines basketball sa Olimpiyada sa pagho-host ng bansa ng Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) Men’s Basketball Championships sa 2007 na tiniyak ni PBA Commissioner Noli Eala kahapon sa PSA Sports Forum na lingguhang ginaganap sa Manila Pavilion.

"I think it’s a done deal," wika ni Eala ngunit sinabi nitong hindi pa niya maaaring talakayin ang mga detalye dahil ang Basketball Association of the Philip-pines ang siyang gagawa ng pormal na paghahayag nito.

"I’m not suppose to talk about it as the BAP is the one in charge of it but I’m very deep in negotiations. I think they’ll be making the announcement in a few days," sabi pa ni Eala.

Sinabi pa ni Eala na tiwala sa koponang hinuhubog ni National coach Chot Reyes na inatasang bumuo ng kompetitibong koponan na tutupad ng pangarap ng PBA na makarating sa Olympics at World Cham-pionships na kinabibilangan na lamang ng 21-players bilang National pool.

Ang FIBA -Asia Championships na siyang iho-host ng bansa sa 2007 ay ang qualifying tournament sa 2008 Beijing Olympics gayundin sa World Championships.

"It’s an excellent selection. I Think it’s a well thought choice. It’s a team that is complete and oozing with talent. What Chot (Reyes) got is what exactly he need to beef the powerhouse teams in Asia. It’s a young and athletic team and there are a lot of good shooters in the team."

Samantala, matapos ang matagumpay na laro ng PBA sa Jakarta, Indonesia noong nakaraang Linggo bilang kauna-unahang out-of-the-country game ng liga, kasalukuyang inaayos ang tatlo pang overseas games sa Guam sa Mayo at Saudi Arabian countries na Jedah at Dubai. (Ulat ni CVOchoa)
