Manila Talent ID program ng PSC isasabay sa MY Games

Sa malapiyestang pambungad na seremonyas ng 3rd Manila Youth Games (MY Games) sa susunod na Linggo, isasabay ng Philippine Sports Commission at ng Manila Sports Council (MASCO), sa tulong ng Philippine Center for Sports Medicine (PCSM) ang Manila Talent Identification Program ng PSC.
Tinatayang may 8,000 kabataan-athletes, na may edad na 15-gulang pababa ang magtitipon sa makasaysayang Rizal Memorial Stadium sa pagbubukas ng isang linggong multi-event competition.
"We intend to take advantage of the opportunity, hoping to identify potentials through the Manila Youth Games that we believe can help provide a base for future athletic talents," ani PSC chairman Eric R. Buhain.
Pipiliin ang mga batang may edad na 14 gulang at pababa na may height limit na 5-foot-11 sa kalalakihan at 54 sa kababaihan na isasailalim ng Philippine Sports Talent Identification Program (PSTIP) Team mula sa PCSM sa test sa pamamagitan ng sports segregation program.
Ayon kay Arnold Ali Atienza, anak ni Manila Mayor Lito Atienza at namumuno sa nag-organisang MASCO, ang lahat ng 897 barangays at 130 private at public schools ay may kinatawan.
Ang mga sport na naka-calendar sa 3rd MY Games, na magsisilbing qualifying event para sa RP delegation na ipapadala sa 2004 International Childrens Games (ICG) sa Cleveland, ay ang athletics, badminton, baseball, chess, dancesports, football, gymnastics, softball, swimming, table tennis, lawn tennis, taekwondo, volleyball at paralympics.
Mayroon ding cheering competition, giant kite flying exhibition, acrobatic show tampok ang dating mga street children, at fireworks display sa opening ceremonies.
