Rice, 3 beterano ng NBA nais ng Purefoods

Tatlong beterano sa NBA sa pangunguna ni Glen Rice ang pinag-pipilian ni Purefoods Tj Hotdogs coach Ryan Gregorio bilang kapalit ng injured na si Lenny Cooke.

Ang Hotdogs na pansamantalang all-Pinoy muna sa kanilang laban ngayon kontra sa Barangay Ginebra ay interesado kay Anthony Bonner, isang dating New York Knick na halimaw sa rebounding. Ang isa pang option ay si Jason Caffey, na kakampi dati ni Mi-chael Jordan sa Chicago Bulls na nagwagi ng NBA titles.

"Rice’s agent called me up and said he was available. The only prob-lem is that he (Rice) is asking too much. He’ll be a good material on the court and a good marketing tool. Pero sobra talaga ang laki ng hinihingi niya," ani Gregorio.

Ang 6’7 Rice, ay No. 4 pick sa overall ng 1989 Draft at kinuha ng Miami kung saan naglaro ito ng six seasons. Naglaro din siya sa Charlotte Hornets (1995-98), Los Angeles Lakers (1988-00), New York Knicks (2000-01) at Houston Rockets (2001-03)

Si Bonner, 6’8, pitong taong NBA veteran na nagsimula sa Sacra-mento Kings at pagkatapos ay sa Knicks.

Si Caffey, naman na may taas na 6’8, ay dating kakampi ni Michael Jordan sa Chicago Bulls squad. (Ulat ni ACZaldivar)
