HANOI -- Ginapi ng Philippines ang Malaysia, 12-5 kahapon upang palakasin ang kanilang kampanya sa medalya sa 22nd Southeast Asian Games water polo competition sa National Aquatic Sports Complex dito.

Pinangunahan ng 21-anyos na Airman First Class na si Roy Canete ang Filipinos sa kanilang ikalawang sunod na panalo matapos ang 6-7 pagkatalo sa kamay ng reigning SEAG champion Singapore sa kanilang debut noong nakaraang Lunes nang kumana ng apat na goals.

Si Canete ay nakakuha ng suporta mula kina Michael Jorolan, Almax Laurel at Frazer Alamara nang pawang umiskor ng tig-dalawang goals.

Susunod na makakaharap ng Filipinos ang Indonesia, third placer sa KL SEAG sa alas-12:30 ng tanghali ngayon kung saan kailangan nilang maipanalo ang laban para manatili sa kontensiyon.

"We have a good chance of getting a medal this game," wika ni water polo head Leo Galang. "The boys are in high spirit. They’re out to make up for their disappointing fifthplace finish in Kuala Lumpur two years ago."

Kumana naman ang Singapore ng tatlong sunod na panalo nang kanilang talunin ang host Vietnam, 22-7, pinabagsak ng Thailand ang Indonesia, 7-5 sa isa pang sagupaan. (Ulat ni DMVillena)
