Record binarail ni Padilla

Tumudla ang national shooting champion na si Nathaniel ‘Tac’ Padilla ng 583 puntos noong Linggo upang basagin ang kanyang apat na taon ng record sa center fire pistol event sa PSC range sa Fort Bonifacio.

Pumutok rin ang 39-anyos na si Padilla, general manager ng Spring Cooking Oil ng 293 at 290 upang wasakin ang kanyang Philippine mark ng isang puntos at magaang na talunin sina Gilbert Escobar (545) at ang nakatatandang kapatid na si Donald (540) sa final leg ng PNSA selection series para sa 2003 Vietnam Southeast Asian Games.

"I’m happy because despite my busy schedule. I was able to break my record," pahayag ni Padilla, isang four-time SEAG at nine-time SEASA gold medalist." At least my special training under my father (former Olympian Tom Ong) is paying off."

Nanguna rin si Padilla sa rapid fire at standard pistol events sa kanyang itinalang 573 at 554, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Dominado naman nina Susan Aguado, Emerito Concepcion, Rachel Marie Capili, Carolino Gonzales at Edwin Fernandez ang kani-kanilang events.

Bumaril si Aguado ng 565 upang walisin sina Therese Cantada (555) at Jay Borja (520) sa women’s sport pistol; umasinta naman si Concep-cion ng 592 upang gapiin sina Roberto Bote Jr., (581) at Daryl Sandoval (567) sa men’s air rifle; tumudla si Capili ng 386 at tumapos ng una kina Roselle Santos (378) at Maria Pilar Tan (375) sa women’s air rifle; nagsumite si Gonzales ng 576 upang ungusan ang kanyang kapatid na si Marcelo (561) at Glenn Diaz (560) sa air pistol at pumutok si Fernandez ng 585 na nangibabaw naman kina Dennis Hernandez (580) at Alvin Anselmo Tawagon (577) sa free rifle (prone).
