De Ramos naka-2 na sa World Youth Championships

Tanging ang first timer na si Julius De Ramos na lamang ang walang talo sa mga Youth chessers na kumatawan ng bansa sa kasalukuyang 2003 World Youth Chess Championships.

Ito’y matapos kolektahin ng 16-anyos na si De Ramos ang kanyang ikalawang sunod na panalo kontra sa Egyptian na kalaban sa Halkidiki, Greece.

Tinalo ni De Ramos si Ahmed Adly (ELO 2448) upang itakda ang kanyang pakikipagharap kay Papel Ponkratov (ELO 2360) ng Russia sa ikatlong round ng boy's 16 and under.

Tatlong RP chessers naman ang may 1.5 puntos na kinabibilangan nina Wesley So (boy’s 10 and under), Jan Jodilyn Fronda (girl’s 10 and under) at Karl Victor Ochoa (boy’s 12 and under).

Ang 10-gulang na Shell Kiddy grand champion na si So ay nanaig kay Kim Cabanes ng France gayundin ang 12-anyos na si Ochoa laban kay Dana Hawrami ng England.

Nagkasya naman sa draw ang 9-gulang na si Fronda kay Dominyka Batkovskyte ng Lithuania.

Masaklap naman ang naging kapalaran ng boy's 18 and under bet na si National Master Oliver Barbosa nang yumukod ito kay Jerez Jose Carlos Ibarra (ELO 2413) ng Spain.

Nanatiling may 1.0 puntos si Barbosa na pinantayan ni Cheyzer Mendoza (girl’s 12 and under) na nagtagumpay naman kay Tamzin Oliver ng Austria.

Ang iba pang RP entry na sponsored ng First Gentleman Foundation, NCFP, Timelife books president Mr. Hector Tagaysay at PSC ay sina under-16 girl’s Sherilly Cua, 0.5 points; at under-14 boy’s Nelson Mariano III, 0.5 points.

Hindi pa nakakapuntos sina under-18 girl’s Arianne Aguja at under-14 girl’s Cindy Atayde.
