Cash incentives ng Busan Asian Games medalists handa na

Ipinahayag ni Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Eric Buhain na handa na ang cash rewards para sa mga medal winners sa nakaraang 14th Asian Games sa Busan, South Korea na umabot sa P8.6 milyon matapos matanggap ang kumpirmasyon mula kay Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) Ephraim Genuino.

Ngunit hindi pa naitatakda ang araw kung kailan ipamimigay ang mga cash incentive.

"It’s only a matter of scheduling an appropriate ceremony where we would award the cash incentives to our medal winners," ani Buhain. "But it’s not only the medal winners who will be feted in the ceremony but the entire Team Philippines, regardless of how the other athletes in the Busan delegation performed in the Games.

Ayon kina Buhain at Genuino na nakatuon na ang atensiyon sa paghahanda ng bansa para sa 2003 Southeast Asian Games sa Vietnam na posibleng sa susunod na buwan gaganapin ang award ceremonies o kung kailan makakabalik si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo mula sa Asia Pacific Summit meeting sa Mexico.

Tatanggap ng P1-milyong ang mga gold medal winners sa pangunguna ni equestrianne Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski habang paghahatian naman ito nina bowlers Paeng Nepomuceno at RJ Bautista at billiards players Francisco ‘Django’ Bustamante at Antonio Lining.

Ang silver medal ay may P500,000 at P100,000 naman sa bronze base sa Republic Act 9064 o Athletes and Coaches Incentives act.
