2nd Mindanao Friendship Games ilulunsad sa Cagayan de Oro

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY-Dahil sa temang "Advancing Sports in Mindanao; A Vehicle for Peace and Unity," ilulunsad ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang 2002 Mindanao Friendship Games (MFG) ngayon sa Grand Caprice Hotel dito.

Ang nasabing launching activity at consultative conference ay inaasahang hahakot ng 150 governors at mayor ng highly urbanized cities, sports council coordinators, sports educators, DepEd at DILG sports coordinators, media at iba pang stakeholders sa anim na rehiyon sa Mindanao.

"The Friendship Games is the PSC’s response to the long neglect of Mindanao in sports," ani PSC Chairman Eric Buhain. "Mindanao has been a rich breeding ground of talents in the past, producing some of the finest athletes over the years."

Kabilang sa inimbitahan na dumalo sa launching activity ngayon ay si DILG Secretary Jose Lina at Presidential Assistant on Mindanao Affairs Jesus Dureza.

Kabilang sa 17 sports na nakalinya para sa 2002 MFG na nakatakda sa Nobyembre sa Cagayan de Oro City ang athletics, arnis, badminton, sepak tak-raw, swimming, lawn tennis, table tennis, taekwondo at volleyball.
