Iba pang NSAs susuporta sa Sering Cup

Bilang pagkilala sa malaking kontribusyong ibinigay ng yumaong Gov. Jose Sering sa pambansang palakasan, nagpahayag ng boluntaryong serbisyo ang ilang National Sports Associations (NSAs) officials para sa ikatatagumpay ng 2002 Milo National Open-Sering Cup sa Mayo 1-4 sa Rizal Memorial track oval.

Sa pamumuno ni Col. Salvador Andrada ng tennis, tiwala itong talagang magiging matagumpay ang paglarga ng apat na araw na kompetisyon na lalahukan ng 43 bansa.

"I’m sorry but we cannot allow track and field’s Go Teng Kok to take all the credit in honoring our beloved Gov. Sering. Sering Cup is no longer just an athletic meet but a major event for the whole sports," pahayag ni Andrada.

Si Andrada ay kabilang sa tinatawag na "Sering boys" na isa sa kaagapay ng dating Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) head na si Sering. Ito (Sering) ay naging presidente rin ng Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA).

Sinabi ni Andrada na marami pang opisyal ang susuporta para sa nasabing torneo kung saan kabilang na si Rep. Monico Puentevella ng weightlifting na kasalukuyang Congressman ng Bacolod City, kasama sina Roberto Aventajado (taekwondo), Mario Tanchangco (sepak takraw), tennis secgen Romeo Magat, Florencio Campomanes (chess), Sultan Jamalul Kiram III (pencak silat).

Inaasahang magpapaabot din ng kanilang serbisyo sina Eduardo Ponce (karatedo), Capt. Reynaldo Jaylo (judo), Bong Ilagan (billiards) at Tiny Literal (basketball).
