Ayon sa kilalang Japanese boxing manager matchmaker at journalists Joe Koizumi na ang nasabing laban ay "this is going to be a very competitive fight. It is certain to be a great fight between two superbly conditioned boxers."
Sanirose Orbeta na "should have no trouble making the weight," hinggil sa gaganaping opisyal weigh-in ngayong alas-3 ng hapon, Manila time. Si Dr. Orbeta ang siyang gumawa ng plano para sa diet ni Peñalosa sa nakalipas na buwan at kumpiyansa itong nagsabing "Gerry will do very well. He is super-ready and strong."
"Gerry is ready physically and mentally. Almost two years since his last title fight is too long a time to wait knowing what he is capable of. Gerry is in the finest shape of his life. we have done everything for him and he has dedicated himself.
At sa press public preview, sinabi ng 28-anyos southpaw na "I came here to bring the crown back home to the Philippines. I didnt come here only to fight, I came here to win."
