Abadia silat kay Mora

Pinatalsik ng fourth seed na si Michael Mora III ang top seed na si Adelo Abadia, 6-2, 6-4 kahapon upang makara-ting sa men’s singles semifinals ng P120,000 TMS Shipping Agency National Open Tennis Championship sa Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Sumandig ang 23-anyos na si Mora ng UP Diliman sa kanyang all-around game upang igupo si Abadia sa ikalawang pagkakataon mula ng Milo-Manila Open noong nakaraang taon.

Tinalo ni Victorino, mag-aaral mula sa Manila South-woods Tennis Academy si No. 4 Jesus Lapore, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 (ret.) sa quarterfinals ng tournament na ito na hatid ng PSC at Dunlop ball.

Ang iba pang nakakuha ng semis slot ay sina second seed Johnny Arcilla na umiskor ng 6-1, 6-0 panalo kontra No. 8 Niño Salvador at No. 5 Pio Tolentino na sumibak naman sa No.3 Rolando Ruel Jr., 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (1).

At sa women’s division, pinayukod ni No. 3 Josephine Paguyo si No. 1 Vida Lina Alpuerto, 6-3, 6-4 upang isa-ayos ang kanilang title showdown ng No. 4 na si Czarina Mae Arevalo na nagtala ng 6-0, 6-2 panalo kontra kay Petrona Bantay.

Samantala, mayroong 16 na matches sa apat na divisions ang nakatakda sa pagbubukas ng hostilidad ngayon ng Philippine Seniors Tennis Championship 2001 sa Philippine Columbian Association indoor courts.
