Cortez, pasok sa semis ng Milo Junior Tennis Cup

BAGUIO CITY--Pinatalsik ng local pride na si Jun Cortez si Ramier Ortega, 6-1, 6-1 at isinunod na biktima si Jeff Villanueva, 6-0, 6-0 upang makarating sa semifinal ng boys’ 16-under division noong Martes sa 2001 Milo Junior Tennis Cup and Regional Workshop dito sa Burnham Park claycourts.

Haharapin ni Cortez ang Baguio teammate na si Jimmy Tangalin na nagposte ng 6-1, 6-0 panalo kontra Ronel Tan sa upper bracket, habang makakasagupa naman ni JI Grape ng San Sebastian-Manila na nanaig kontra Keith Flores, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 si Jeric Biasura ng San Fabian, Pangasinan sa lower bracket.

Nanatili sa court ang sweet-hitting na si Cortez para sa double championship appearance matapos ang 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 panalo kontra Denny Reyes ng San Pablo City sa boys’ 18-under bracket.

Hiniya ni Dino Ferrari ng International School-Makati si Rommel Canilla, 6-0, 6-2 at ibig niyang pigilan si Cortez, habang makikipagtipan naman si Carlo Manalastas ng Angeles City na umiskor ng 6-0, 6-2 tagumpay laban kay Biasura si Borgs Solpico ng City of San Fernando, La Union na sumupil kay Chase Tinio, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 sa iba pang laban.

Sa unisex 10-under division ng Milo netfest na ito na inorganisa ng CTW at may suporta mula sa Adidas, umusad din sa semis round sina Patrick Arevalo, Mark Balce, Nikki Antolin at Gerard Ngo.
