Team ng Negros Oriental sibak sa SPS booters

DUMAGUETE CITY--Pinatalsik ng St. Paul’s School of Barotac Nuevo ang Negros Oriental High sa sudden-death penalty shootout kahapon sa Siliman ballfield dito upang mapasama sa 17th Coke Go-for-Goal under 16 national football finals na nakatakda ngayong buwan sa Bacolod City.

Nasungkit ng SPS booters ang makapigil-hiningang all-Visayas finals sa pamamagitan ng 6-5 panalo nang kumana si Joseph Pueyo ng "golden goal" matapos na ang dalawang koponan ay magla-ban sa 1-1 pagtatabla sa regulation at 5-5 matapos ang penalty shootout.

Ang tagumpay na ito ng Iloilo boys ay isang napakatamis na paghihiganti kung saan natalo sila sa Negros Oriental squad, 2-0 noong nakaraang all-Visayas finals ng tournament na ito.

Ang individual awards ay napasakamay naman nina NOHS’ Phil Bucol, best goal-keeper, John Philip Ragay, best defender at Mark Aguilar ng Las Piñas, best striker, habang nahirang na best midfielder si SPS’ Den Dumago at si Jessie Diaz ang nanalong Most Valuable Player ng tournament.

Awtomatikong nakapasok na ang West Negros College ng host Bacolod City sa national finals na nakatakda sa Jan. 29-Feb. 2.
