NCFP binigyan ng permisong humawak ng continental tourney

Dadalhin ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines ang Asian Under 16 Chess Championships sa coastal town ng Bagac, Bataan sa Disyembre 10-22.

Mahigit sa 15 local players ang hindi na bibiyahe sa lugar na may 160 kms. ang layo mula sa Manila para lamang makipagtagisan ng talino sa chess sa kalapit na bansang Asyano.

‘It is a welcome development that the FIDE has given us the honor to host the continental tournament. Since this is the first competition that we will organize under the banner of NCFP, it will be an exciting, and at the same time a great challenge on our part," ani Grandmaster Buenaventura ‘Bong’; Villamayor.

Sa bisa ng kanilang oustanding performances sina National Master John Paul Gomez, Woman National Master Arianne Caoili, Kiddies champion Julio Catalino Sadorra at dating 14-and-under crown holder Sander Severino ang kabilang sa mga Filipino na seeded sa nalalapit na continental open.

Ang mga kampeon mula sa bawat rehiyon sa Pilipinas ay may tsansa na subukan ang kanilang galing sa larong ito kontra sa mga opisyal na kalahok ng member federations mula Zones 3.1 hanggang 3.4.

Ang 9-round Swiss system na gagamit ng high technology equipment ang siyang handog sa debut ng NCFP. May digital clocks na may 30-second sa bawat moves, sensory boards at computerized pairing system ang gagamitin sa torneo.
