It was back in 2011 when the government announced that it was undertaking its first infrastructure project under the public-private partnership (PPP) program of the Benigno Aquino III administration with the privatization of the entire maintenance and operation of the Light Rail Transit Line (LRT) Line 1.

To ensure the convenience of commuters, the operator of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 is extending LRT-1 services during weekdays.

In an advisory by the Light Rail Manila Corporation on Tuesday, March 25, the operating hours of LRT-1 will be extended by 30 minutes. 

Weekday operations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 have been extended by one hour.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced that the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) will begin implementing extended operating hours on Monday, March 24.
