New partners for My Dream in a Shoebox

MANILA, Philippines – What started in 2009 as a simple idea has turned into a beacon of hope, helping close to 30,000 underprivileged Filipino children last year.

Aiming to help even more young minds reach their dreams, the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), together with integrated marketing agency TeamAsia, have partnered with National Book Store and Jones Lang LaSalle for My Dream In A Showbox. The Christmas initiative invites everyone to help less fortunate children by giving them access to school supplies that they can use to achieve their goals.

“Corporate social responsibility initiatives should be more than just a one-day event,” said Bea Lim, managing director of TeamAsia. “My Dream in a Shoebox aims to aid underprivileged kids with the necessary tools to continue their schooling because we believe that is one big step in creating this brighter future,” she adds.

For his part, IBPAP president Jomari Mercado said, “We believe that education is the most important tool for our youth today. Through My Dream in a Shoebox, we are empowering them to achieve greater goals in life.”

Companies like Acquire BPO and Shore Solutions Inc., Capital One Philippines Support Services Corp., Chevron, Henkel Asia Pacific Services Center, Northern Trust, Synchrony Global Services Philippines Inc., and WiPro BPO Philippines Ltd. Inc. have pledged their support this year.

Do-it-Yourself contributions are also encouraged. Simply cover a shoebox with Christmas wrappers and fill it with two notebooks, one pad paper, two pens, two pencils, one eraser, and one bottle of glue. Shoeboxes may be delivered to the Jones Lang LaSalle warehouse at 2698 Guatemala Street, Brgy. San Isidro, Makati City every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Nov. 20, 2015.

Participating companies can take part in gift-giving at Payatas Orione Foundation on Dec. 11, 2015, SOS Children Village Foundation on Dec. 15, San Pedro Calungsod Parish on Dec. 28, and Ascension of our Lord Parish on Dec. 30. Other beneficiaries are Ronald McDonald House Charities, Alabang Elementary School, Hospicio de San Jose, and more.

My Dream in a Shoebox also welcomes monetary sponsorships for the renovation of Payatas Orione Training Center in Dalahican Quezon.
