MANILA, Philippines - Meralco’s MPOWER and social development arm One Meralco Foundation, together with building materials partner James Hardie Philippines, formally turned over a fully-furnished kindergarten classroom to the Lagundi Elementary School in Plaridel, Bulacan as part of a joint corporate social responsibility initiative.
The project aims to provide a partner elementary school with quality, durable building products, including HardieFlex ceilings, along with other amenities, to adhere to the Department of Education’s currently implemented specifications, and to create a conducive learning environment for students, right at the first leg of the new K-12 program.
“We are thankful for this opportunity to help shape the future of Lagundi Elementary School students,” said Mark Sergio, James Hardie Philippines country manager. “We hope that the students enjoy learning in their beautiful yet durable new classroom, and that we get another opportunity to contribute to better and sturdier classrooms in other parts of the country.”
The classroom inauguration ceremony was attended by school officials, Mayor Jocell Aimee Vistan-Casaje, project sponsors, and representatives from DepEd and MPOWER, Meralco’s local retail electricity supplier. Guests were given a tour of the new facility, which is built with high quality HardieFlex ceilings. The new classroom aims to set the standard in public school building construction.
“MPOWER is happy to work with James Hardie and their high-quality range of HardieFlex products,” says Roberto Almazora, Meralco senior vice president and MPOWER head. “We hope that we can continue working with them in our future CSR projects that can benefit the Filipino community. Our organizations share the same commitment to providing excellent products and services, as well as improving the way Filipinos live, learn, and grow.”
James Hardie provided HardieFlex ceilings and accessories to the classroom facility. Tried and tested by experts, HardieFlex building products are durable and long-lasting, ensuring that the students will remain secure and comfortable during class hours. Its building products are resistant to fire, moisture damage, and termites, and are guaranteed to serve the structure for many years to come.
