Resorts World Manila sustains eco-friendly thrust

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Among its host of corporate social responsibility priorities, environmental sustainability is tops for Resorts World Manila (RWM), which pursues eco-friendly initiatives through its “Live and Love Green” program.

This year, RWM started early by conducting its regular monthly recycling day activity last Jan. 27. The company-wide project produced 1.8 tons of recyclable materials including cartons, used papers, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles.

In 2014, RWM was able to collect 21 tons of recyclable materials as well as boxes of clothes and linen, in addition to the 14 tons gathered during its initial six-month run in 2013.

All collected materials are donated to Buddhist organization Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines and are made into clothing, thermal blankets, and other useful items for disaster relief operations around the country.

“Through our ‘Live and Love Green’ program, we continuously seek and implement innovative ways to keep our commitment as an environmentally-responsible integrated resort development,” said Owen Cammayo, RWM director for corporate communications.

“We hope to sustain the momentum from last year and contribute even more to this advocacy (in 2015) to help preserve and rehabilitate our mother earth,” she added.
