Resorts World Manila donates school building to Jose Rizal Elementary School

MANILA, Philippines - Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. (Travel- lers), owner and operator of Resorts World Manila (RWM), recently turned over a three-story, nine- classroom school building donation to the Jose Rizal Elementary School (JRES), Barangay 88, Pasay City. The newly constructed building will benefit over 2,500 students currently enrolled in the school.

“RWM’s comprehensive approach to corporate citizenship is aligned with the company’s vision and mission, primarily designed to make communities win through thoughtful and carefully designed initiatives focused on ‘Championing Filipino,” said Stephen Reilly, chief operating officer, Resorts World Manila.

The project was made possible through Travellers’ designated beneficiary foundation, Manila Bayshore Heritage Foundation Inc. (MBHFI), under the supervi- sion of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) and in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government of Pasay City.

“This project is part of PACCOR’s ongoing school building project in coordination with DepEd,” said- PAGCOR president and chief operating officer Jorge Sarmiento. Since the program started in 2011, PAGCOR has donated P7 billion to DepEd, helping mitigate the country’s deficiency of 66,000 classrooms.

For its part, Travellers, through MBHFI, previously donated a four-story, 24-classroom school building each to Tambo Elementary School in Parañaque City and Pasay City East High School in Pasay in May 2014. MBHFI has three more ongoing school building projects for public schools in Pasay and Parañaque.

Apart from supporting the country’s public educa- tion sector, the MBHFI aims to preserve the country’s cultural heritage and protect the environment by sup- porting waterways treatment facility programs.
