MANILA, Philippines - Manila Water recently launched its “Mobile Lakbayan” or environment education on wheels in different schools and barangays within the East Zone concession area to further raise the awareness of the public on the need to protect our vital water resources as well as the importance of proper used water management.

Manila Water East Zone Business Operations Group Director Ferdinand Dela Cruz said they decided to embark on the program to provide an effective communication tool to enable stakeholders to better appreciate and understand the processes involved in bringing safe, reliable and potable water to the customers’ taps.  These processes are contained in “Lakbayan” or water trail, where the journey of water from the source to the taps is shown.

Dela Cruz explained that as part of their advocacy, Manila Water initially started going to different barangays in the municipality of Pateros to introduce the “Mobile Lakbayan” program.

Aside from these visits, Manila Water also tapped some schools to further enhance its efforts to raise awareness on water management at the grassroots level.

“We have brought the ‘Mobile Lakbayan’ to Cubao Elementary School and the Technological University of the Philippines.  The environment education on wheels is set to visit more schools in the coming months,” Dela Cruz added.
