NEDA awards best LGU-NGO partnership

MANILA, Philippines - The National Economic and Development Authority, through the Regional Development Council, conferred an award on Alcala town during the State of the Region’s Development Conference and RDC 1 awards program in La Union.

The municipal government of Alcala represented the province of Pangasinan in the “Search for Best LGU-NGO Partnership” which recognized the partnership between the municipal government of Alcala and its NGOs which transformed the municipal plaza into a tourism center that has been recognized as the “best” not just in the whole province of Pangasinan but in the whole Region 1.

Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. joined Mayor Ryan Paolo Mencias and other Alcala municipal and NGO officials in receiving the award.

The NGO partners came from various parts of the globe, including officers and members of Alcaleneans of Metro Manila, Alcaleneans of North America-Canada, Alcala Association of Hawaii, Alcalenean Association of Southern California, Alcaleneans of Northern California, Alcala Pangasinan Organization of Canada, SK Federation 2007-2010, AHS Class 59,   Alcaleneans of Hawaii Maui Chapter, Alcaleneans Organization of Hong Kong and many individuals.

Last January, a seven-member team from the RDC visited the town to evaluate the entry in terms of its social, environmental and economic impact. The entry was presented and defended before the RDC evaluators by a team of Alcaleneans headed by Mayor Mencias.
