NGCP lights street in Pangasinan
SAN MANUEL, Pangasinan, Philippines– Residents of a small community here will welcome a brighter and safer new year as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) gets ready to light up a kilometer stretch of a street in the area.
The street-lighting project, jointly implemented by the power transmission provider and system operator and the municipality of San Manuel, Pangasinan, will brighten up a path that runs from Nagsaag Extra-High Voltage substation down to Asuncion Street in Poblacion, San Manuel.
The dim street was said to have been the site of several unlawful activities in the past, especially at night.
Through this project, NGCP aims to help the local government of San Manuel boost security in the area and ensure the safety of the whole community as well as travelers who pass by the area.
The memorandum of agreement for the joint project was signed last week by NGCP chief administrative officer Anthony Almeda and San Manuel Mayor Alain Jerico Perez. The street-lighting is estimated to be completed on the first week of January.
The project is one of NGCP’s corporate social responsibility projects that benefit communities hosting transmission facilities. San Manuel hosts NGCP’s District 3 Office, the San Manuel Substation, and the Extra High Voltage Substation and transmission lines.
