Surfing Break named 'best tourism event'
MANILA, Philippines - The La Union Surfing Break bagged a national award as best tourism event for sports and wellness in the provincial level.
The award was given by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP), an award giving body for tourism innovations accredited by the Department of Tourism.
The awarding was held recently in Dipolog City during the ATOP National Convention.
The La Union provincial government headed by Gov. Manuel Ortega, along with various partners in the private and government sectors, will once again stage the Surfing Break on Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.
Now on its seventh year, the Surfing Break has become one of La Union’s most popular sports-tourism events, drawing local and foreign surfing enthusiasts.
Various sports activities and events will be held at the seashore in Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union.
