MANILA, Philippines - Officers and employees of the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC) recently took part in the second phase of the conglomerate’s environmental advocacy, the YGC Centennial Forest tree-planting drive in Barangay San Andres, Tanay, Rizal. Over 230 participants represented some of the major corporate entities of the YGC, such as Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), its subsidiaries RCBC Savings Bank and RCBC Bankard, Malayan Insurance, House of Investments, Mapúa Institute of Technology, Honda Cars Quezon City, Isuzu Manila, and EEI Corp.
As in last year’s activity, 20 hectares of denuded forest land were replanted with seedlings of narra, acacia, molave, batino and other hardy trees. The seedlings are under the care of the cooperative Samahang Tribu ng San Andres. To enhance its partnership with the group and with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), YGC also donated funds for the construction of three comfort rooms in the barangay hall.
The annual activity will take place for another three years to cover the entire 100 hectares allocated for YGC’s Centennial Forest.
