MANILA, Philippines - The 34-member Miriam College High School (MCHS) Glee Club bested 30 choirs from various parts of the world in two of 18 categories of the open competition at the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati, Ohio held last July 4 to 14.

The World Choir Games is the world’s largest international choral competition held biennially. It gathered 360 choirs from 48 countries competing in 23 musical categories.

Among nine Philippine choirs in attendance, the Miriam Glee Club is the lone all-female group from a secondary school. They competed in the Sacred Music and Youth Choirs of Equal Voices Categories, where the group won Gold Diplomas.

Five international choral experts gave the Miriam Glee Club the highest scores in terms of intonation, sound quality, fidelity to the score, and overall artistic impression. The Glee Club obtained the highest scores of 25.45 points in Sacred Music and 23.85 points in the Youth Choir of Equal Voices Category.

During the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China, the Glee Club won two silver diplomas. It has also won several awards in Philippine choral singing competitions.
