Cavite e-toll to use e-tap cards

- Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  Electronic toll fee payment will be available to motorists using the Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) starting July 16.

Cavitex rehabilitation contractor and operator the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and leading Malaysian hi-tech tollway payment systems provider RTS, with the Toll Regulatory Board signed recently a memorandum of understanding for a partnership that will provide motorists the convenience of using smart electronic or e-tap cards in paying their Cavitex toll fees.

Andrew Deyto, CIC president and general manager, said the “e-tap” cards are expected to cost less than the current electronic toll fee gadgets being used in other tollways in the country, with the cost of each card expected to range from P15 to 25.

“This facility is expected to enhance the speed of paying at the toll ways and is also very convenient because motorists are no longer needed to prepare for small change or wait in queue at the cash lane to complete the transaction,” Deyto said.

“All they have to do is tap the card on the card reader and they’re good to go,”Deyto added.

“And the best part is that the load balance can be seen at the tapping point so the amount left in the card is tracked easily and reloading can be done by the teller if needed,” he explained.

The CIC will be giving away 3,000 free e-tap cards to motorists using the Cavitex on July 16.

Motorists only has to load the cards with money to be able to use the cards for Cavitex toll fee payments.
