Bicol towns, Intervida ink MOA on nutrition

MANILA, Philippines - Ten towns and one city in the provinces of Albay, Sorsogon and Camarines Sur recently signed a memorandum of agreement with Spanish-based non-government organization Intervida Philippines Foundation to strengthen the capacity of local government units for the delivery of nutrition services.

A partnership with the National Nutrition Council (NNC), the national policy-making and coordinating body on nutrition, the program seeks to reduce malnutrition among children under five years old.

It aims to enhance the functionality of the provincial, municipal, and barangay nutrition committees to support the NNC, and provide direct support to the implementation of nutrition programs at the community level, to complementing the municipalities’ and barangays’ resources in implementing their nutrition programs

Participating in the program are the municipalities of Camalig, Daraga, Guinobatan, Malilipot, Malinao, Oas, Sto. Domingo, Tiwi, and the Ligao City in Albay, and the towns of Nabua in Camarines Sur and Pilar, Sorsogon.
