Reservoir cruise launched in San Roque Dam

- Eva Visperas -

MANILA, Philippines - The San Roque Power Corp. (SRPC) launched its reservoir cruise recently, marking the opening of another potential tourism activity in the province.

The ferry is envisioned to provide tourists a leisurely ride across the blue waters of the giant reservoir located in the upper stream of Agno River from San Manuel town in Pangasinan to Itogon, Benguet.

SRPC vice president for Operations Tom Valdez said the boat will cater to the reservoir transport needs for the performance of environmental studies and compliance in monitoring activities, pending the full study of the tour features.

The ribbon-cutting inside the ferry boat was led by former President Fidel Ramos, considered the godfather of the San Roque project, who was also honored with a marker in appreciation of his pivotal role in the construction of the project.

Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said the reservoir cruise will enhance the agricultural and tourism activities in the province.

“The San Roque Multi Purpose project and now the reservoir cruise will help promote Pangasinan as a major tourist and investment destination,” Espino said.

He added that there are a lot of opportunities for tourism and other investments in Pangasinan, which is rich in natural resources, pilgrimage and historical sites, sprawling croplands, stretches of inland water, vast mountains and forest lands waiting to be tapped for economically-productive and financially- profitable investments.
