Israel shares agri technology in Tarlac
MANILA, Philippines - Ambassador Manashe Bar-On of Israel recently visited Tarlac to share his country’s technology in agriculture and to foster goodwill among agriculture provinces in the country.
Bar-On met with Tarlac Governor Victor Yap and Tarlac Provincial Agriculturist Edwina Tabamo and discussed ways to maximize the agricultural produce of Tarlac farmers on a per hectare yield.
According to Bar-On, his country’s harvest on a per hectare basis is 90 percent higher than that of most agri-producing provinces in the country.
“In Israel, our harvest of, say, tomatoes per hectare is 300 tons,” he said.
Tarlac, on the other hand, only has an average yield of around 30 tons per hectare, according to Tabamo.
Bar-On’s team visited the Tarlac College of Agriculture, with which Israel has a long standing cooperation in terms of agricultural development.
The Israeli ambassador likewise had an interaction with local government officials regarding agricultural technology at the Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreational Complex and visited the Monasterio de Tarlac in Lubigan, San Jose.
“We learned a lot from the ambassador’s visit. We have to adopt their technology,” Yap said.
A road show for irrigation facilities and presentation of different agricultural equipment participated in by different countries and different irrigation companies was also held in Shangri-La hotel in Manila.
