Pinoy ECE grad wins in Korean TV song tilt
ANGELES CITY, Philippines — A Filipino electronics and communications engineering graduate of Angeles University Foundation (AUF) here bagged the top award in a song and dance competition organized by the Arirang TV and the ASEAN-Korea Center at the Konkuk University in Seoul.
AUF president Joseph Emmanuel Angeles said Jemuel Forto, who graduated cum laude from the AUF engineering college in 2008, was awarded gold medal in the competition participated in by representatives from Southeast Asian countries.
The competition was dubbed “Bravo! ASEAN in Korea 2010”. Forto interpreted the song “Miss, Miss and Miss” originally performed by K.Will, a Korean balladeer.
Angeles said that representatives from Indonesia and Laos got the silver and bronze medals, repectively. He said Forto is a former member of the AUF Concert Chorus and was named AUF outstanding student for the performing arts in 2008. In 2007, Forto had bagged the grand prize in the vocal solo category in the cultural competitions held by the Private Schools Athletic Association in Zamboanga City.
AUF is reputed to be one of the top universities in northern and central Luzon, with its graduates landing top places in board examinations in various fields.
