MANILA, Philippines - Giordano, a leading clothing brand, aims to improve the quality of education in select schools in Mindanao by partnering with Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.
“Think of the Kids, Be the Change Campaign” is a project that will run from November to May 2011. A portion of every purchase at any Giordano store will be donated to Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.’s “Cable-A-School” program, which will provide a 29” TV set, a satellite dish, and a digital receiver to select schools in rural Mindanao.
Educators and administrators will also be trained in TV-assisted education through seminars, program guides, and regular monitoring.
Think of the Kids gives loyal and new Giordano customers a chance to empower children with knowledge. Given the importance of providing quality education in the country, particularly in rural areas, Giordano sees the potential of its partnership with Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.
“We are proud to launch the campaign. We believe that a good source of knowledge leads to more than just better grades,” said Giordano’s marketing officer Rhea Akil. “When educational facilities are equipped with interactive learning tools and students become optimistic about going to school, we’ll see a brighter future for the communities in Mindanao.”
