MANILA, Philippines - Six students emerged as winners in Lampara Books’ 2nd Interschool Children’s Storytelling Competition, a yearly event sponsored by Lampara Publishing House, Inc., which aims to promote literacy and love of reading among elementary students nationwide. Lampara Books include Mga Makabagong Alamat, Kuwentong Nanay, Stories with Moral Lessons, Mga Premyadong Kuwentong Pambata, among others.
A total of 148 students representing 16 schools participated in the tilt. The schools represented were chosen by officers of Alitaptap Storytellers Philippines from a field of 146 elementary schools across the country.
The competition produced two sets of winners from each of the two levels of the tilt: Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-7. Judges were award-winning children’s author and TV writer Augie Rivera and Precious Pages Corp. editor Edith Garcia. Participants were required to read and tell children’s stories published in Lampara Books.
