Bob Navida, Share-Your-Extras project director, said that aside from goods gathered in donation booths in malls and the Foundation’s own donation, many items were from Filipino communities abroad who sent their slightly used and brand new clothes, shoes, linens, canned food and noodles through LBC Mundial.
The goods were distributed to an initial 9,500 families in Quezon, Pangasinan, Manila, Caloocan, Pasig, Marikina, Pampanga, Muntinlupa, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Davao del Norte, Cavite, Mindoro, Baguio and Camarines Sur. Target is to help 14,000 families this year.
Aside from the beneficiaries identified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in KALAHI-CIDSS areas, families in disaster prone areas and those who have been victims of natural calamities also received assistance from the project.
?Project partners this year are the DSWD, the Philippine Information Agency and the YMCA who manned the donation booths in selected SM Supermalls.
