MANILA, Philippines - Taking off from the successful 9th Young Women Leaders’ Conference (YWLC) last September, women leaders from different campuses will gather once more to discuss crucial issues that concern them at the National Women’s Summit, to be held on Oct. 20-21 at Miriam College in Quezon City.
Around 350 women from all over the country will look at the importance of women’s contributions in meeting the strategic objectives of the Beijing Platform for Action in all 12 critical areas of concern and in realizing gender equality.
The summit also hopes to further strengthen the network of young women leaders at the youth session entitled “Young Women as Transformative Leaders.” The session aims to raise awareness on the political involvement of young women and the problems they face; deepen understanding of the process of empowering young women into transformative leaders guided by gender and rights-based approaches through social networking and technologies; and share ideas and strategies to involve young women leaders in promoting good governance through transformative leadership.
