Over 150 villagers benefit from 10th Infantry Division’s outreach mission
COTABATO CITY — More than a hundred marginalized villagers benefitted from a humanitarian outreach activity of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division in Mawab town, Davao de Oro province in Region 11 on Tuesday, September 3.
Radio reports here on Thursday quoted Col. James Bantilan, 10th ID's chief-of-staff, as saying that they have provided 153 villagers from across Barangay Tuboran in Mawab with medicines for common ailments and free medical and dental services during the day-long activity at a public gymnasium in Barangay Tuboran in Mawab.
“Some of them are elderly residents of Barangay Tuboran, or senior citizens, who are in need of medicines for various ailments,” Bantilan said.
The outreach mission was supported by local executives and officials in Region 11 of the Philippine Coconut Authority, whose programs for farmers the 10th ID is helping push forward.
Radio reports said some of the beneficiaries of the free medical and dental services are relatives of former members of the New People’s Army, now thriving peacefully as farmers in different barangays in Mawab.
Roland Gono, chairman of Barangay Tuboran, said he and his constituents are grateful to the 10th ID and to the service-oriented groups that helped the division facilitate the outreach mission.
