MANILA, Philippines — Parking has just become a breeze at Mall of Asia Arena Annex (MAAX) Parking with its new automated parking system. Officially launched recently, the parking system was designed by Park Solutions Inc. (PSI) in cooperation with SM and TXper, a Taiwan-based electronic parking solutions firm.

Future-proof parking payment system

PSI’s newest parking solution for MAAX Parking capitalizes on image-capturing technology and the use of cloud storage.

Entering Maax Parking, you no longer have to stop to get your parking ticket. Instead, as your vehicle passes the entrance, cameras capture your vehicle’s image, including the plate number.

When you are ready to pay your parking fee, you simply have to go to any of the parking machines in the building. Input the last four digits of your plate number, pay P50 in cash, and you’re good to go. At the exit booths, the camera scans your plate number. Once it’s determined that you’ve paid your fee, the boom lifts, sending you on your way.

Tried and true

PSI is no newbie to designing and implementing high-tech parking systems. Of course, they also rely heavily on the Filipino shopping public, who is always eager to try new technology, especially systems that make their lives easier.

“Filipinos are very receptive to new technology like this one,” said lawyer Pitero Reig, COO of PSI. “Besides, the machines are user-friendly. They look like vending machines with an interface that reminds one of a videoke machine.”

Five payment stations are distributed throughout the MAAX Parking building, all with the capacity to serve the building’s 1,263 vehicles and 408 motorcycles.

All for a bright, high-tech future

“PSI has been a long-time partner of SM in its parking initiatives,” said Ferdinand Oroza, president and CEO of PSI. “For example, we have been instrumental in helping with the Smdc Shell residences and SMDC Shore residences carpark automation, as well as the mechanical parking system behind SM Megamall.”

Also at the ribbon-cutting and blessing ceremony was Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto- Rubiano. “It is my honor and pleasure to be among such innovators and driving forces,” she said during her speech.

“This MAAX Automated Parking System is definitely something that we can all be proud of. It promotes accessibility and efficiency. In this crucial time when technology is constantly peaking, it is only fitting for us to be adaptive and responsive. I would like to extend my profound gratitude to PSI and, of course, to the SM family for helping us reach our fullest potential through technologies and inventions such as this one. The future is definitely at its brightest.”
