Take a Trip to MIAS
MANILA, Philippines - Summer always brings to mind road trips and great memories of hopping in a brand-new set of wheels and taking off for familiar or unknown destinations. Despite being an archipelago, the Philippines has accommodated land transportation with a network of paved highways, sturdy bridges and island-to-island transport called the RORO (roll on/roll off) – making it possible to traverse from North to South in a car. It is quite apt that this year’s theme at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) is “Crossing Boundaries,” primarily highlighting the unparalleled capabilities of today’s vehicles as they give better performance and fuel economy.
But what kind of car? How much will it cost? Will it be a practical choice even for city driving? To answer your questions, head on to MIAS, an annual venue where people can immediately compare and contrast their prospective purchases. Scheduled from April 15 to 18 at the World Trade Center, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, the MIAS theme on its sixth year is “Crossing Boundaries,” and is expected to fortify its standing as the most all-embracing auto show in the country.
Showcasing the latest releases from premiere car manufacturers, MIAS has gained ground as the most all-embracing auto show in the country today – the biggest motor show in terms of visitor count, cars on display, and exhibitors.
Auto loans sponsor PS Bank will offer special deals and quick approval for qualified buyers who wish to purchase a car right from the MIAS floor.
For drift and stunt enthusiasts, see Russ Swift, a precision driver known for his tight J-turns, two-wheel maneuvers and meticulously planned stunts. Sustainable transportation students can check out SIKAT, the second-generation solar car produced by DLSU on display, along with other noteworthy exhibits: vintage vehicles, 20 to 25 big bikes on display, a party van/bus, classic and new-generation Mini Coopers and Chevrolet’s Cruze Touring Car. There will be the MIAS Custom and Classic Car competition where the winner gets tickets for two to go watch the Malaysian Formula 1. There will also be a custom bike competition, as well as a photo competition by Nikon.
Featuring a comprehensive display of the latest offerings from the top car makers in the country, it allows the consumer to take a look under the hood of the latest models and significant concepts from the Philippines’ premiere automakers, highlighting the unparalleled capabilities of today’s vehicles as they give better performance and fuel economy.
So take out those maps and plan your route, because after a visit to the Manila International Auto Show, you’re sure to go home with a winning set of wheels.
