Wheel Gallery organizes track day

MANILA, Philippines - For an up close and personal feel of their newest tire variant, Wheel Gallery recently held an exclusive track day with the media at the Subic International Raceway.

Dubbed as “Track day with Starfire Tires”, the media event coincided with the fourth leg of the Philippine Touring Car Championship (PTCC). “Concept One is this year’s sponsor and we would like the media to see first hand how tough, reliable and well crafted our wheels are to withstand the punishment of racing. We are also letting you guys experience the feel of Starfire tires, our newest tire variant,” states Sammy Liuson of Wheel Gallery.

Starfire Tires is manufactured by Cooper Chengsan Passenger Tire Company Limited, a subsidiary of Cooper Tires in Findlay, Ohio U.S.A. Cooper specializes in the design, manufacture and sales of automobile and truck tires. Cooper Chengsan is part of Cooper Tires USA which has 59 manufacturing, technical and design facilities all over the globe. Cooper Tires also owns and operates Avon Tires of U.K. which also designs and manufactures tires for motorcycles, road cars and racing cars. So it came as no surprise when organizers of the PTCC gave Starfire Tires the green light to become this year’s official tires of the Touring Championship. “We never doubted the capabilities of this tire. Unlike other tires that chip off after a few hot laps around the track, StarFire never loses its grip and traction even during high temperatures at the track. It provides me the confidence to brake late at fast corners and provides the traction needed to power out at corners,” relates Dennis Uy of Team Velocity-Sea Oil, one of the front runners at the PTCC.

The day long event also formally launched the new PTCC Series wheels from Concept One. “We currently have four new designs which comprise the PTCC wheel series. These wheels are designed and made for racing although they can also be used for road cars,” says Liuson. “I am very happy that Wheel Gallery came out with a special wheel line up for the PTCC. It makes me proud to be a PTCC racer,” adds Uy.

The media track day was organized in cooperation with Team Velocity, Sea Oil, Gerry’s Grill, Subic Bay and Foton Motors, the official transportation of the Starfire media track day.
