Robinsons Supermarket celebrates wellness

MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Supermarket celebrated Nutrition Month last July with a month-long Wellness Festival, which includes the Wellness Weekend at Robinsons Galleria, discounts on healthy products as well as fun run for 1,000 runners.

The Wellness Weekend was a treat to Robinsons Galleria shoppers with lectures by wellness experts like Procter and Gamble Philippines’ Jim Lafferty on work-life balance and Nestle Philippines’ Amalia Santiago about proper diet and nutrition. Survivor Philippines winner JC Tiuseco and model/beauty columnist Rissa Mananquil with Bianca Valerio shared that a positive outlook in life, good hygiene, and regular exercise keep them in tip-top shape. Celebrity mom Carmina Villaroel gave tips on keeping your body and household clean. Fitness instructors from Gold’s Gym, performed the Capoeira, a Brazilian workout routine that combines dance, music and martial arts.

The second day’s talks and activities focused on attaining optimum health through good nutrition and eating habits. Giving tips on healthy eating habits were Abbott nutritionist Denise Jan Reyes-Tasipit and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan. One useful tip was to prepare appetizing snacks by adding colorful fruits, which was later demonstrated by Chef Rob Pengson. Nestle Philippines, Abbott Nutrition, Mead Johnson Nutrition, Fonterra Phils., and The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) offered free information, samples and health services.

The Wellness Month also included promotions and discounts on healthy items in all the chain’s branches as well as the Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run. This annual running event requires racers to run in pairs so that runners can invite family and friends to get into the wellness habit.
