Two days before C-Day
Sharing is one of the best ways to truly celebrate the birth of our Savior.
We now move to the culmination of all our frantic preparations for Christmas Day. Bright lights illuminate streets, malls, private homes. Gifts have been wrapped, labeled and assembled under the brightly lit and fully trimmed tree. Only the joyous chatter is missing; but, in a while, after the traditional misa de gallo, homes will burst with laughter and glorious chatter of happy families.
But have we thought of those hapless people who neither have anyone to celebrate with or those who can only dream of a fully laden Christmas table?
Our group, the Eating Club, this year decided not to give personal gifts and instead make a donation to a worthy cause. A team did thorough research and came up with a recommendation – the Purple Centers which support the children and families living in the dumpsites within the area of Smokey Mountain in Tondo. The centers provide education, healthcare and motivation to attain a better life.
The centers badly need a freezer to replace the old and no longer functioning unit. Our group bought them a new one, which brought grateful smiles from the manangs who witnessed the turnover.
It was then that we realized the true spirit of Christmas – that sharing is one of the best ways to truly celebrate the birth of our Savior. Share and make some people truly happy.
Merry Christmas!
