5th Animahenasyon Philippine Animation Festival

MANILA, Philippines - Animahenasyon marks its 5th year at Eastwod City from November 22 to 25. This year’s festival is also held in conjunction with Toei Animation Philippines, Inc.’s (TAP) 25th anniversary.

Organized annually by the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), Animahenasyon aims to build an audience base, increase awareness, and showcase original Filipino animated works through a multi-category competition for both aspiring and professional animators in the country.

 ACPI is conferring this year’s lifetime achievement award to Geirry Garcia, creator of the famed Ang Panday animated TV series during the late 80s.

 Also part of the festival is a conference where renowned animation professionals from abroad are invited to share their expertise and experiences. These include Silas Hickey from Cartoon Network Asia Pacific, Richard Morgan Grenville from Supa Strikas, independent character designer and concept artist Chris Lie, and traditional painter and digital artist Luis Lasahido among others.

The Japan Foundation, Manila and the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. will present an artist’s talk and  interaction on contemporary Japanese  anime film by renowned  Japanese director, Jun Awazu, on November 22 (Tuesday, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm) at the International Centre of Information Technology Education (ICITE) Auditorium, Eastwood, Quezon City.

 In addition, a special program featuring the works of Director Makoto Shinkai film Voices of a Distant Star and several best-short anime from the 15th Japan Media Arts Festival will be held respectively on November 22 (Tuesday, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm) and November 23 (Wednesday, 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm) at the Amberly Belmont Function Room, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel.

 Capping the whole festival is the closing ceremony and awards night that will be held at the Eastwood City Open Park on November 25.
