MANILA, Philippines - Flooding has always been a problem of motorists passing along the downhill part of Marcos Highway coming to and from the Masinag intersection. But today, the area is relatively flood-free through the efforts of SM Prime Holdings, which included a holding tank in its plans when it constructed its 41st mall, SM City Masinag.
SM Prime Holdings took the pre-disposition towards flooding in the area when it began designing SM City Masinag. Since the mall opened in May this year, it has helped nearby communities through a holding tank which not only collects rainwater from the roof deck and perimeter of the mall, but also from neighboring subdivisions like Vermont Park and Vermont Royale by allowing their drainage systems to connect to that of the mall.
The rainwater system is one of SM Prime Holding’s initiatives in its commitment towards sustainable development in the communities it serves.
