The young and the restless

SOUTH SCENE - Katsy Borromeo -

The crack in the otherwise flawless heat suggests the end of summer. Flash rains are set to take over the heat wave that we’ve been experiencing in Cebu. A fitting adieu to my personal favorite time of year, the Summer Solstice party was held at Shangri-La Resort and Spa last May 14, featuring a fashion show of swimwear line Solara. Bringing sexy back is the line of body-baring suits in jewel tones and solid colors paired off with punchy shoes from Shandar. The brain child of former beauty queens Maggie Wilson-Consunji and Sandra Seifert, fellow former Miss World contender Anna Igpit is the distributor of Solara swimwear in Cebu. Proving that age is nothing but a number, sexy mommas Merce Abellana-Brenner, Queenie Amman and Char Maitland Smith strut their stuff down the runway along with the models. As the sun buried itself in the tropical waters, cold cocktails and hors d’ouevres marked another successful party hosted by one of the island’s most beloved hot spots.

At a later time on a totally different part of the country, the young and the young-at-heart also had another reason to party the night. At the posh party hall of the Old Habana House in Davao, Glen Mendoza celebrated his birthday with family, friends and business associates with youthful exuberance. House music, smoke machines and disco lights had everyone on the dance floor in no time.
