SOUTH SCENE - Katsy Borromeo -

Many heavyweight artists in the international music scene have shown interest in performing in the Philippines recently. Cebu is a steady second to Manila as host to these international performances and the occasional stop-over is always a pleasant surprise.

One such event is the ultimate club tour series that debuted in Cebu at the newly renovated LX (LUXX) in VUDU at the Crossroads, with no less than The Black Eyed Peas’ apl.de.ap.

This was a party-for-a-cause, with proceeds going to The Pearl S. Buck Foundation, among other beneficiaries. The Pearl S. Buck Foundation is an organization close to apl.de.ap’s heart as it was the same organization that supported him when he was growing up in Angeles, Pampanga.

The hip and young crowd partied to the cool beats of Black Eyed Peas hits and danced the night away with DJs like DJ Joker, DJ Buddha and MC Richi Rich setting the vibe.

Some 400 kilometers away from the Queen City, at the Captain’s Bar, Wines and Tapas opened at the redesigned restaurant of Pearl Farm Marina in Davao.

Guests partied through the night nibbling, on tapas and cheeses while sipping on free-flowing wine and champagne.

The night was hosted by the owner of the Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Tony Boy Floirendo, their GM Benjie Banzon and Fuego Hotel’s managing director Alfredo Roca.
