Chowking inspires success through great stories and great food

MANILA, Philippines - The leading Chinese quick-service restaurant, Chowking marks another milestone in celebration of their 25th year as they strongly hold onto the top spot with the launching of a refreshed image, a new generation of brand advocates, a new logo, and an array of new menu offerings – all in part of their role in inspiring the working man’s journey to success, for themselves and for their families who inspire them.

They raise the bar even higher and take on the pivotal role of enlivening the spirit, fueling the passion, and nourishing the dreams of the millions of success-driven Filipinos. Together with a wide range of delicious, great value chef-inspired Chinese meals, Chowking President Ariel Fermin shares “We want to position Chowking not only as a brand that serves quality and modern Chinese food, but also a brand that enables the working man to achieve success and share this same success with their loved ones.” Their primary audience is now the working adults or the ‘balanced success seekers’ who are the responsible sons and daughters, motivated to provide a better life for their family. Chowking serves as an inspiration for these individuals to succeed as they are fueled by great value Chinese rice meals, lauriats, dimsum, desserts and beverages.

To better experience the new Chowking, an extraordinary event was staged in an effort to retell the stories of the brand advocates with “Journey to Success”. As words are just words, what better way to experience the successes of Jericho Rosales, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson and Efren Penaflorida, Jr. than to actually step into their shoes and relive their inspiring stories. Chowking’s guests and friends from the media were taken on a one-of-a-kind tour where stories are relived and lives are touched. Chowking has captured the life stories of these individuals who underwent obstacles, painstakingly faced adversities, and overcame all barriers to reach what seemed insurmountable.

Jericho Rosales’ story is indeed one for the books. From his humble beginnings, he literally worked his way up taking on odd jobs. One of which was being a fish vendor. So as a first stop on the Journey to Success, Jericho took guests to Farmer’s market as he keenly taught how to clean fish while sharing his interesting stories.

Onto the next stop, Efren Penaflorida Jr. surprised the guests with five karitons. Each one was encouraged to try and push karitons as Efren shares his heartwarming story before being recognized worldwide as CNN Hero of the Year for 2009. His relentless effort to make a change has led him to the fulfillment of his mission when all he wanted was just to teach a few kids. Guests were welcomed by the kids at Scout Borromeo, and to end the activity, they were given books and notebooks together with good food for all to share.

Completing the one-of-a-kind journey was Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Similarly, their careers began after emerging as winners of popular reality TV show, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition. A simulation of the confession room of the Pinoy Big Brother house was set-up to give guests a feel of how it was to be seen on every television in almost all households. Kim and Gerald shared with them their experiences with ‘Kuya’ and how they persevered during their stay inside the house. And to make the whole experience more enjoyable, a chicharap eating contest was staged with five people winning the contest.

Bea Alonzo’s story is equally inspiring as she takes on the limelight from the bottom of the pack and eventually working her way up. She joined beauty pageants after beauty pageants – even taking tricycles in her homemade gowns, if only for the thrill of being a princess for a day. Her persistence has paid off and the next thing she knew, she was capturing audiences with her unrelenting talent; garnering multiple acting awards and a legion of adoring fans.

The end of the Journey to Success then ushers in the new beginning for Chowking. At a culminating activity hosted by Christine Bersola, Chowking’s new brand advocates were formally introduced as they each share their sweet success stories, living and breathing the brand’s new mantra Tikman ang Tagumpay. The culminating event was led by Chowking Marketing Head Francis Flores, Chowking Marketing Director Edward Arandia, Brand Manager Chris Monteron, Assistant Brand Manager Ernest Concepcion and Brand Specialist Lauren Tanganco.

Chowking’s new brand mantra ‘Tikman ang Tagumpay’ encapsulates in a few yet meaningful words what Chowking passionately stands for. With over 25 years of the best-tasting Chinese meals, Chowking takes the brand further where good food becomes a fuel in their pursuit of triumph and heartfelt joy and gratitude through shared meal-time experiences with the family.
