UP Sigma Delta Phi: soaring high at 75
It was aN auspicious and meaningful celebration for the U.P. Sigma Delta Phi Sorority whose 75th anniversary celebration coincided with the Centennial Year of the University of the Philippines. With the theme “Soaring High at 75,” the grand reunion held at the Dusit Thani last Nov. 7 was an evening of reminiscence, camaraderie, music and dance for some 350 Sigma Deltans from 1933 to the present.
The affair was made more special by the fact that the 75th Jubilee grand reunion, celebrated by the Sorority once every five years, was the 98th birthday of the Sorority’s co-founder and sole living charter member, Gloria Lucero Monzon. The sorority also honored the first winners of the Betty Go Belmonte Awards and the 6th Mariang Maya Achievement Awards.
Organized by the Sigma Delta Phi Alumnae Association and co-presented by The Philippine STAR, the 75th Jubilee will be remembered for a long time as one of the most memorable Sigma Delta Phi reunions.
The reunion was not only a toast to women achievers but made the sorority relevant to the times.
